This is my personal website, and is probably my main long term project (though I am not a web developer) since everything, bar 1 or 2 things like the captcha, on here is written from scracth and I'm constantly working on it.

 

It features:

• My projects listing (obviously)
• A blog, which is mostly about my 3rd year project.
• An image gallery.
• Ties in with my Garry's Mod server.
• User accounts, with a control panel, mainly to allow players on my Garry's Mod server to do things out of game, though it may be used for other things like a forum (if enough people want) later on.
• A basic bug report page

 

The projects page includes a very basic suggestions system that allows anyone (no account required) to suggest something relevant to a project, and vote on it. The votes give me an idea of how many people want something, and gives me a way of prioritising. There is a link to the bug reporting page at the top.

 

The blog will mainly be about my 3rd year project of my Computer Science degree at uni, though I may not limit it to that. It also allows anyone to add comments without an account on this website. I was thinking of tying the comments in with Facebook, but decided against that.

 

As for the image gallery; I wanted somewhere to show images between people that didn't require something like Facebook but was still nice to use. Anyone with an account can create an album in the gallery and upload images to it, but I will take down anything that I don't want associated with this website such as pornographic, racially abusive, or violent imagery.

 

User accounts are mostly used for the Garry's Mod server, but as I stated above, it gives access to the image gallery too. There are other uses for a user account, but they are mostly only ever used by me.

 

 

There may be a forum to come later, but that's dependant on the number of regular players on my Garry's Mod server and their want for a forum. I'll be happy to set one up, but I don't want it to just sit there and look dead. There's not much worse on a website than a dead forum.
